Lobbying services include passing or defeating legislative initiatives, issue education, monitoring of legislative committees and state agency board meetings, and relationship building with state officials.

Successful efforts on behalf of our clients include:

  • Passed bill creating stand-alone Department of Public Health
  • Successfully lobbied for increases in state Medicaid budget and saved multiple programs slated for elimination by Governor's budget recommendation in several fiscal years.
  • Annually work on budget issues for various clients. These issues include or have included:
    • General grants-in-aid to counties for local public health departments
    • Planning appropriations for Regional Commissions
    • Historic preservation monies
    • Emergency adult dental care
    • Non-emergency transportation funding
    • Pilot project to reward assisted living homes that reduce institutional admissions
    • Obtained funding for new county DFCS office not on the state's priority list
  • Passed state's hospital lien law legislation
  • Passed truckers axel weight legislation
  • Passed Anatomical Gift Act legislation
  • Passed legislation to help clients get permits approved more quickly by state agencies
  • Successfully lobbied Georgia State Board of Workers' Compensation for changes to fee schedule and DRG codes for hospital's burn center
  • Passed raw research data legislation to improve laws affecting clinical research trials
  • Negotiated a change in Department of Community Health regulations on Medicaid filing deadlines for hospital claims involving potential third party payers.
  • Obtained the Governor's veto of legislation detrimental to dairy manufacturing industry.
  • Successfully lobbied for changes in the Georgia Fair Lending Act as part of a coalition of lending interests (assigned to work Speaker of the House)
  • Successfully passed transportation design construction bill to speed up highway projects
  • Buried tax legislation that would have been detrimental to the crushed stone industry
  • Had tax language inequitably affecting client removed from revenue legislation
  • Served on the Department of Community Health's external review committee responsible for selecting Georgia's pharmacy benefit manager for the State Health Plan, Board of Regents Health Plan, Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids
  • Passed legislation exempting pharmaceutical samples and pharmaceuticals used in clinical trials from state income tax
